EduCATE: K-12 Educator Professional Development

July 20 - July 23

K-12 Research Practice Partnership (RPP)
in New Jersey Climate Change Education

Schools in the Newark / Jersey City area are invited to participate in a year-long climate and health science education active learning project that meet interdisciplinary climate change standards and results in community engagement in NJ climate resilience planning. The project culminates in a student-driven project(s) presented at the Rutgers Climate and Resilience Summit that documents community resilience measures.

Our goal is to involve youth in building and communicating about resilient landscape designs funded by the Building a Climate Ready NJ program. Community based projects will be designed to help communities adapt to climate change, reduce environmental damage, and support both people and nature. We will take an ecological approach where humans and other organisms together, are recognized for their shared role in maintaining healthy, adaptable ecosystems.

Applications for this year’s cohort have closed. Please see the list of participating 2026-2027 schools.
